Some IKEA customers are reporting receiving four smaller OMAR shelving units (Article # 100.697.63) when they ordered a single, larger OMAR 1 section shelving unit (Article # 698.290.83) priced at $130. This unexpected delivery creates confusion for shoppers seeking specific IKEA storage solutions. You might be looking for affordable IKEA storage gems under $35 for 2026.
The IKEA OMAR shelving unit is celebrated as an affordable storage solution. However, a specific '1 section' variant is priced significantly higher, and customers are receiving different products than described.
Based on customer reports of receiving multiple smaller units instead of a single larger one, IKEA may be facing a significant product fulfillment or cataloging issue. This could either be a boon for some customers or a logistical headache for the company.
Understanding IKEA's OMAR Storage Solutions
- The standard IKEA OMAR shelving unit costs $15, according to The Kitchn.
- This affordable unit can triple kitchen storage for many users, The Kitchn reports.
The OMAR system's reputation for utility and low cost makes the current product confusion particularly significant. It affects a widely used and popular storage item.
What Arrives When You Order the OMAR '1 Section'?
The IKEA product page for the OMAR 1 section shelving unit (Article # 698.290.83) lists specific dimensions. This unit measures 36 1/4x14 1/8x71 1/4 inches, according to IKEA. These measurements describe a single, large, integrated structure.
However, customer reports contradict this description. Shoppers ordering this single, substantial item often receive four separate, smaller units instead. The receipt of four separate, smaller units instead of the single, substantial item indicates a fundamental misrepresentation in product descriptions.
